New members join net of international NGOs

Three more non-governmental organisations can now share experience with the rest after they were allowed to join the Network of International NGOs working in Rwanda (NINGO)

The new entrants are Girl Hub Rwanda, Land O Lakes and Help a Child whose application to join the network was endorsed by all members during the NINGO General Meeting held yesterday at ADRA Head Office in Nyarutarama.

Representatives of the new members first presented a brief background and activities of their respective organisations before all members voted in favour of joining the network.

The network now has 73 members and the number keeps increasing, according to its Public Relations Officer Mugarura Victor, the NINGO facilitates its members to share experiences as they contribute to the Rwanda’s development agenda.

In a message to the new members, the sitting Chairperson of the network, Lane Mears, also said that this is a platform to network and contribute to development. “NINGO membership will be great value to you, and look forward to your active and valuable participation and contribution to the community,” he wrote in a welcome note.

The new members will now participate in social events for members, on top of featuring on a new dynamic website that is being developed for the network.

Other issues discussed during the meeting included need to engage customs officials and renew the registration of IT number plates on vehicles belonging to international NGOs.

Members, who have not renewed their registration, were also urged to engage the Directorate General of Immigration and Emigration as soon as possible.
