Gicumbi district has to complete the project of building houses for genocide survivors especially in Mutete and Muko sector by the end of this month of July 2013.
This was decided by the Security Council of the district toast met on Wednesday the 3rd.July.2013.
The Security Council had many issues to discuss among which include houses for genocide survivors, the property related cases that have be ruled and different issues that affect security in the district.
The executive secretary of Mutete sector Paul Mbonyi says this sector has 48 houses for genocide survivors that need to be renovated including 13 that have to be destroyed and rebuilt.
Concerning the issue of the properties that were destroyed during the 1994 genocide against the Tutsis that need to be compensated, Mutete sector has about 2996 cases with 1354 completely solved and 1642 that still need to be worked on.
Mutete sector is the sector in Gicumbi district with many genocide survivors and Muko has 248 cases to be worked on.
On the issue of genocide survivors’ properties that were destroyed during the 1994 genocide against the Tutsis, Alexandre Mvuyekure the mayor of Gicumbi district said most of these cases will have to be completed by 30th July.
The Security Council discussed the issue of the upcoming elections and the participation of everyone for the success of the elections as well as maintaining their security.
