Mind about the character of the school children, Emilienne Niwemwiza; the vice-mayor for social affairs in Rulindo district has advised head teachers and teachers.
This is because some children are said not to have the best of the character and teachers should strongly take the lead in instilling good character in them.
The mayor said this on 3rd July 2013 during the meeting that gathered primary and secondary head teachers and teachers in Rulindo district.
Teachers are advised not to allow children do whatever they want for instance to be strict with late coming and follow up on the cause of some children’s absence.
The vice-mayor for social affairs told mentors to be exemplary before the children because they can’t discipline school children when they do not conduct themselves well before them.
He denotes: “Pupils and students are no angels they understand and witness your behavior. You should first work on being role models then correct them.”
He explained that good character instilled in pupils and students is one way of improving education in Rwanda.
