Liberal Party (PL) president Protais Mitali has promised residents of Huye district that advocacy for a political agenda that will stimulate and strengthen socio-economic transformation of people’s lives, once the party succeeds in the forthcoming legislative elections.
Mitali was leading the party candidates in a campaign in one Huye district- one of Rwanda’s major towns, where PL supporters showed enthusiasm and dramatized their willingness to vote for the party come the parliamentary elections to be held between September 16-18.
Mitali said that the party will be at the realm of development by putting its focus on developing trade links and cross-border trade for Rwandans, improve infrastructure especially in Huye district which is one of the oldest towns and underdeveloped in the country.
The party has put forward a list of 64 candidates to contest in the elections that will see 53 lawmakers of 80 members elected through general elections. The race will be a hot seat as PL battles it out with RPF-led coalition, Social Democratic Party (PSD) and PS-Imberakuri alongside independents like Venuste Bizirema, Léonille Mutuyimana, Gilbert Mwenedata and Clovis Ganza.
PL party launched its official campaign in Rusizi district, and had four legislators in the Parliament that completed its mandate early this August, 2013.
The three yellow stars emblazoned on green colour, was the order of the day as the party’s top supporter have endured hours at the campaign venues during the three-week-long traversing of the country in search for votes.
