Rwandans who are commonly referred to as historically marginalized community due to negligence the former government about them are currently telling a different story.
Those residing in Mujuga cell, Kitabi sector, Nyamagabe District are grateful to the Rwanda Environment Development Organization [REDO] which has helped them learn how to read, write and also be able to count, a basic education they never had before.
“This has helped us become knowledgeable”, said many of the historically marginalized in this area.
Charlotte Ingabire 18yrs of age said that before she could not go to any place and feel confident but now that she that she can read, write and count she has much confidence in herself.
“I was so ignorant before, I could not go anywhere freely but now I can do all this with help from REDO”, said Ingabire.
She added on saying that she can now count money given to her well, can read and write well, which she attributes to the teachings she got with support from REDO.
For Jean Claude Ruvugundi another one of these who got such teachings, he said that he can now read sign posts especially on roads hence cannot face problem of misuse all because he could not know what a sign post tried to mean.
With this therefore the district official in charge of social welfare Emile Byiringiro also appreciated REDO plus TROCAIRE project for their contribution in helping such people develop through teaching them how to read, write and also be able to count which are one of the pillars to development.
REDO has a program of helping historically marginalized people in this country start a new life, which life will help protect Nyungwe Park and also here they will help such people with livestock farming in bees.
