South African firm to invest in Rwanda

A South African company, GLUCO-LESS has announced plans to invest in Rwanda.


The Chief Executive Enoch Moses Samuel who represented GLUCO-LESS while visiting Rwanda for first- hand on August 1, 2013 revealed the company’s plans to enter the Rwandan market.


GLUCO-LESS Energy Meals is a powdered product that is made for everyone, from assisting children in their cognitive and physical functions to boosting the elderly and weak immune systems.


With a long shelf life, the products benefits can be impactful with rural areas around Rwanda, and the lower class in regards to health value. It is a food supplement that is expected to boost immunity, and is made with the capability of being consumed by diabetic persons.


As a starting activity, they will be importing products while simultaneously setting up manufacturing facilities that will be purchasing materials from local farmers in Rwanda, mainly maize and soy beans, to recreate in Rwanda their GLUCO-LESS Energy Meal products.


“This is a good initiative because it provides an outlet for farmers’ produce, by using Rwandan materials to turn them into products that can generate foreignforex and a market for exports,” said Agnes Kalibata, Minister of Agriculture & Animal Resources Kalibata.


(MINAGRI) will be supporting the organization of farmers and their produce to supply GLUCO-LESS’s needs, once established, as well as provide the appropriate information for GLUCO-LESS’s decision-making needs.


Ministry of Trade and Industry (MINICOM) take lead in introducing the products of GLUCO-LESSto regional markets. RBS will also be monitoring the quality of farmers’ products.


Rwanda has seen an increase in foreign private investments from US $ 590.5 million in 2010 to US $ 832.3 million in 2011.


Statistics from the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) indicate that foreign investment flow increased up to $476.5m in the second quarter of 2012, up from $220.4 million in the same period of 2011.


The growth is attributable to the rapid economic development strategy adopted by RDB
