Secondary schools in Rulindo district have been asked to start vocational schools in order to equip youth with skills and reduce unemployment.

Secondary schools in Rulindo district have been asked to start vocational schools in order to equip youth with skills and reduce unemployment.

This was said revealed by Prosper Murindwa, vice-mayor for economic affairs in Rulindo district during the meeting that gathered all teachers in Rulindo district at the beginning of July 2013.

Talking to the mentors, the vice-mayor said that it will enable illiterate and educated youth in general to have the knowledge of forging a brighter future.

In his speech, vice-mayor Mulindwa asked teachers to put more effort in training youth in skills since it’s easier for everyone to add skills to their university education.

“Though a student is taking another course, he or she can learn skills as an alternative to quick employment or job creation,” he says

He urged them to implement the idea very soon so as to solve unemployment in Rulindo district.

Though they are in support of the idea, teachers say it might require a lot to put the necessary equipments or materials in place.

It is believed that setting up many vocational schools in Rulindo district will improve residents’ standards of living, the district’s economy and the country at large.
