The apparent issues limiting the promotion of gender equality and gender balance will only be settled through working together as a team in local authorities or government levels.
This was said by the minister for gender and family promotion Oda Gasinzigwa on Wednesday the 17th.July 2013 during the closure of the retreat for levels responsible with gender equality and gender balance in Musanze district.
“What we need to achieve is a lot and limitations are still on our way. This is why we need to reconsider and make our work better. Ignorance, poverty among others are limiting us to having a gender balanced society” says Minister Gasinzigwa
The minister said a lot of things have to be done to achieve a gender balanced society. “You cannot change people’s mind and teach about women’s rights when they do not understand what it is all about. We have to end people’s illiteracy, teach people about gender based violence and removed cultural barriers.”
Rosa Rwabuhihi the general auditor in the Gender Monitoring offices says the limitations to a gender balanced society will first be worked on before to ensure smooth running of operations in the future.
